今日は、滋賀県にある彦根城へ行ってきた時に見た甲冑がかっこよかったので、甲冑について少し書かせていただきます。
甲冑とは、戦闘の際に着用して身体を保護する武具である。
一般に、頭にかぶる「かぶと」（兜・冑）と身体にまとう「よろい」（甲・鎧）、および付属具の小具足(こぐそく)をもって構成される。
甲冑は金工、漆工、韋革、組糸、染織などの工芸技術の集大成ともいうべき総合的な工芸品で、これが製作された時代の文化、風俗、思想、歴史的な背景はもとより、当時の技法や技術水準、さらに美意識や好尚を知るうえで欠かせぬ貴重な資料の一面をもっている。
Today I would like to talk a little about Japanese armor because I saw the cool armor when I went to Hikone Castle in Shiga Prefecture.
It is an armor that is worn during battle to protect the body.
In general, it consists of a helmet called “KABUTO” worn on the head, an armor called “YOROI” worn on the body, and accessories called “KOGUSOKU”.
Armor is a comprehensive craft that can be said to be the culmination of craft techniques such as metalwork, lacquering, leather, braid, and dyeing and weaving. It has one aspect of valuable materials that are indispensable for understanding the culture, customs, ideas, historical background of the time when this was made, as well as the technique and technical levels and favorability.

戦国時代の武将の甲冑はそれぞれ異なっており、さらに拘りをもって作られているといつかテレビで見た事を思い出し、いろいろと調べてみました。
今は亡き、ファッションデザイナー、山本寛斎さんが下記のようにおしゃってました。
寛斎さんは若いころから戦国時代の奇抜なファッションに注目されていたようで
「本来の日本人は、ふだんからすごくきれいなものをよしとする、目立つことをよしとする。
それをかぶくという、歌舞伎という単語ができたくらい。安土桃山文化を見るとその水準なんですよね」
戦国武将たちのファッションセンスには、世界的なデザイナーをもうならせる驚きが詰まっているとのこと。

The fashion sense of the Sengoku warlords is full of surprises even from world-class designers.

信長、秀吉をはじめ、武将たちは商人や宣教師から競って南蛮の生地を求め、奇抜なデザインの衣装を身にまとっていたそうです。
絢爛豪華な桃山文化を築き上げた天下人、豊臣秀吉の陣羽織は「鳥獣模様綴織陣羽織」。
最高級のぺルシャじゅうたんを惜しげもなく使っていたそうです。
ライオンやクジャクなど、当時の日本人が見たこともないさまざまな動物が、色鮮やかに刺しゅうされていてこれぞ南蛮渡来の美の極致。
武将たちの意地をかけたおしゃれ合戦が、戦国時代をますます華々しいものにしたのでしょうね。

Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and other military commanders competed with merchants and missionaries to seek out Namban fabrics, and they wore unusually designed costumes.
The jinbaori of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the world-renowned man who built the gorgeous Momoyama culture, was the “Jinbaori with birds and beasts patters like tapestry”.
He also used the finest Persian carpet generously.
Various animals such as lions and peacocks, which Japanese people at that time had never seen, were embroidered in vivid colors, which was the ultimate beauty of Nanban.
The fashionable battles of warlords may have made the Sengoku period even more spectacular.
