数年前までの私の服の選び方は、まずデザインを見る、そして値段を見る。
安いと「安くて良いものが買えてラッキー」と思って購入する。
そんな気持ちで買い物をしていました。
そして大人になり、ファッションを楽しむことは相変わらず好きな私ですが「良い物を長く着たい」と思いながら買い物をするようになりました。
すると自然に「値段は高いけどMADE IN JAPANの衣服がいいな」とも思うように。
そんな今の私が思う「MADE IN JAPANファッションの魅力」について、お話してきたいと思います。

I went shopping with such a feeling.

Then, naturally I started to think that the prices are expensive, but I like clothes of MADE IN JAPAN.
This time, I would like to talk about “charms of MADE IN JAPAN fashion”.

・MADE IN JAPANとは
MADE IN JAPANとは日本で製造された製品のことを指します。
日本の法律で決められていることとして、商品の最終工程を日本で行えば、日本製と表記できるようになっていますが、これ以外にも、海外で仕入れた生地をもとに日本で服をつくる場合や、日本の工場で製造している人が海外の人である場合でも、MADE IN JAPANと表記することができます。
しかし現在では、日本で作った生地を使い、日本で縫製された純粋なMADE IN JAPANの衣服は約1%にも満たないというのが現状なのです。
What is MADE IN JAPAN?
MADE IN JAPN refers to products manufactured in Japan.
As stipulated by Japanese law, if the final process of the product is done in Japan, it can be described as made in Japan, but in addition to this, even if you make clothes in Japan based on fabrics purchased overseas, or if the person manufacturing at a Japanese factory is a foreigner, it can be described as made in Japan.

MADE IN JAPAN/日本製の魅力とは、日本人が持っている物作りに対してのこだわりや、品質の良いものに対して妥協がないところ、美意識の高さなどが、製品にも反映されているのではないでしょうか。

My images of products made in Japan are like “reliable”, “made carefully” and “good quality”.
As for MADE IN, the countries that makes clothes, the temperaments and the personality of the persons are reflected in the manufacturing.
The charm of MADE IN JAPAN might be that the Japanese people’s commitments to manufacturing, uncompromising quality, and a high sense of beauty are reflected in the products.
衣服を選ぶ時、MADE IN ITALY/イタリア製なら高級感があり、MADE IN USA/アメリカ製ならお洒落で、古着であれば価値のあるイメージを持ちます。
ではMADE IN JAPAN/日本製のイメージとはどのようなものなのでしょうか。

先程も少し触れましたが、私達が購入する衣服のほとんどが、純粋なMADE IN JAPAN製品ではないのです。
日本の大手アパレルブランドのほとんどが、海外に大きな工場を持ち大量生産をし「低価格で高品質」を実現させています。
このような状況下で、純粋なMADE IN JAPANの衣服は生き残っていけるのでしょうか。
近年、大量生産をした衣服が売れ残り、大量廃棄に追い込まれるという話をよく耳にします。
「低価格で高品質な衣服」「高価格で高品質な衣服」
今の私達はどちらを選ぶでしょうか。
純粋なMADE IN JAPANの衣服は、「高価格で高品質」が当てはまりますよね。
以前の私なら、間違いなく低価格で高品質な衣服を買っていましたが、近年の衣服大量廃棄の問題や、地球環境問題の深刻化を考えた時、本当にそれが正しい選択なのかを考えるようになりました。
私達は、自分だけのことだけを考えず、今生きている地球上のこと、自国のことを考える責任があります。
純粋なMADE IN JAPANの衣服は、国内工場でこだわりを持ち、一つ一つ丁寧に生産され、高価格で高品質なものですが、MADE IN JAPANの衣服を選ぶということは、日本の衣服の工場や職人さんを守ることができたり、地域の活性化にも繋がります。
その他にも、高価格で高品質な衣服には、長く大切に着る気持ちが生まれやすく、衣服大量廃棄の問題緩和にも繋がります。
MADE IN JAPAN製品を選ぶことで、輸送する際に発生するC O２排出量の削減にもなり、地球環境を守ることにも繋がるのです。
大袈裟かもしれませんが、MADE IN JAPANの衣服を選ぶということは、将来的に、地球環境や自国を守る為に必要な行動だと思います。
Reasons of wearing MADE IN JAPAN
As I mentioned above, most of the clothes we buy are not pure MADE IN JAPAN products.
Most of Japan’s major apparel brands have large factories overseas and mass-produce them to achieve “low price and high quality”.
Can pure MADE IN JAPAN clothes survive under these situations?
In recent years, we often hear mass-produced clothes are unsold and lead mass waste.
“Low price and high quality clothes”, “high price and high quality clothes”, which one will we choose now?
As for pure MADE IN JAPAN, “high price and high quality” applies.
I used to buy high quality clothes at a low price, but when I think about issues of mass waste of clothes and seriousness of global environmental issues, I came to wonder if it’s really the right choice.
We have a responsibility to think not only about ourselves, but also about the earth we are living in and our own country.
Pure MADE IN JAPAN clothes are carefully made one by one at domestic factories, and are high process and high quality, but choosing the clothes can protect Japanese clothing factories and craftsmen, and also leads to regional activation.
In addition, high-priced and high-quality clothing makes it easy to feel like wearing it for a long time and eases the problem of mass waste of clothing.
By choosing MADE IN JAPAN products, we can reduce the CO2 emissions generated from transportation and protect the global environment.
It might sound like an exaggeration, but I think that choosing MADE IN JAPAN clothing is a necessary action to protect the global environment and your own country in the future.
