メンズメイクとファッションについて

今日、日本ではジェンダーレスに関する考え方が徐々に広まり、「メンズメイク」というトピックをよく耳にするようになりました。日本ではまだ馴染みのない、男性が化粧をするという習慣ですが、私はふと、デヴィッド・ボーイの存在を思い出しました。彼がファッションアイコンであった理由の一つとして、ヘアメイクと衣装の組み合わせによって世界観を表現していた点にあると思います。このように、ファッションはヘアメイクを含めて、ファッションと定義したいと私は思っています。ボーイは西洋顔で骨格が違うし、メイクが似合うのでは、と思われるかもしれませんが、時は遡り、平安時代後期には公家の男性が、女性同様の白粉やお歯黒、紅を刺していたのはご存知でしょうか。遡りすぎかもしれませんが、男性が化粧をすることで、自身を表現していたことには間違いありません。

そこで今回は、普段メイクを本気で楽しむ私なりに、アジア系のメンズの皆様でも取り入れやすい、ファッションとメイクの組み合わせについて、ご提案したいと思います。

Today, in Japan, the idea of “genderless” has gradually spread, and we often hear the topic of “men’s makeup.” A daily routine that men wear makeup is not familiar in Japan yet, but I suddenly remembered David Bowie. I think one of the reasons why he was a fashion icon was that he expressed the view of the world by combining hair makeup and costumes. In this way, I would like to define the word of fashion as fashion including hair and makeup. You might think that he has a different skeletal frame with a western face and looks good with makeup, but going back in time, in the late Heian era, a man in a public house wore white powder, tooth blackening, and used lipsticks. Did you know that? It may be going too far back, but there is no doubt that the man expressed himself by makeup.

So this time, I would like to propose a combination of fashion and makeup that is easy for Asian men to take in, as I really enjoy wearing makeup in daily life.



1.ナチュラル派さんは血色をつけてみる
Natural makeup : adding natural colors

白や茶色、淡い色を組み合わせるのがお好きな方、あまりメイクをしていることを目立たせたくないという方は、血色感を出すだけで印象が変わります。寝起きの青白い肌を、肌色の化粧下地で調整する。肌の荒れた気になる部分を、コンシーラーでカバーする。色付きのリップクリームで少し血色感を出す。これだけで、健康的で優しい印象が増すと思います。もう少し女性らしさを出したい方は、チークで頬や目周りに色を足すと素敵だと思います。


For those who like to combine white, brown, and pale colors, and those who don’t want to make their makeup stand out, just giving a good complexion on their faces will change their impression. When you wake up, you can adjust the pale skin with a skin-colored makeup base, cover the rough skin with a concealer, and give a little complexion with a colored lip balm. It will give you healthy and gentle impressions.For those who want to become a little more feminine, I think it would be nice to add colors around the eyes with a blush.



2.モード好きさんは骨格を強調してみる

モードファッションがお好きな方は、思い切りモードに振り切って、メンズらしいフェイスラインを作ると素敵だと思います。先述したボーイも、グラムロックを象徴する奇抜な衣装に、原色を散りばめたカラーメクを施していました。まずは、骨格に沿ってシェーディングをしたり、アイラインを伸ばして目を切長に見せてみる。これだけで印象は大きく変わると思います。フェイスではないですが、ネイルをするだけも楽しめると思います。
他にも挑戦したい方は、目周りにグリッターやカラーメイクをしても良いですね。

If you want to try something else, you can put glitter or color makeup around your eyes.

「化粧品」とは、『人の身体を清潔にし、美化し、魅力を増し、容貌を変え、又は皮膚若しくは毛髪をすこやかに保つため』(東京都健康安全センターより)のものです。その意味の持つ通り、メンズメイクが自信や満足感を得られ、自己表現を楽しむ文化としてより広まれば良いな、と思っています。

皆様が普段着ている服に合うように、日常にメイクを取り入れることで、ファッションをより楽しんでみてはいかがでしょうか。
